The Chris Glavine Love in Action Award

About the Award

The Chris Glavine Love in Action Award recognizes individuals who embody what Chris has shown us all – that love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a decision to show up, take action, and make a difference in the lives of childhood cancer families. It honors those who, like Chris, don’t seek recognition but deserve it deeply for the ways they’ve transformed pain into purpose and compassion into concrete support.

2025

The first recipient of The Chris Glavine Love in Action Award was the woman for whom it is named, Chris Glavine. Chris’s compassion for a bereaved mother sparked the idea for Quiet Heroes and she poured her whole self into creating the event. She was never content to be a figurehead; she became the beating heart and the working hands that transformed a moment of empathy into a lasting legacy of love and action. Beyond the physical work, Chris opened her heart and her home. She celebrated the victories of our children and mourned their losses. Chris didn’t just host an event – she created a family. Some people make such a profound impact that their influence continues long after they step back. Chris built something that has taken on a life of its own, something that will continue to change lives for decades to come.
